Well, I haven’t weighed on last Tuesday’s midterm election — and really, I haven’t weighed on anything political in awhile. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t been paying attention or that I don’t care as much as I used to. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Clearly, I’m proud of the effort put in by my lefties, stubbornly holding off the much-predicted red wave — or tsunami as Ted Cruz prognosticated — that never quite materialized. Though my team lost the House — though barely, and for awhile anyway, please don’t mention Long Island in D circles — we held on to the Senate, setting up a couple of years of regrettable gridlock at a time that will not be helpful to the country. Instead, we will be subjected to idiotic hearings into Hunter Biden, Dr. Fauci, the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the banning of all British accents, and whether robots should have faces.
Okay, so we may not see hearings about those last two (though I would excitedly watch the one about robot faces — which they should definitely have — oh, and Republicans genuinely hate British accents), but the others items will be prosecuted by Republicans with glee as they seek political revenge for all of the necessary investigations into disgraced, twice-impeached, traitorous, orange ex-president Donald Trump. Of course, none of these queries will lead to anything other than some chest bumping and unwarranted airtime for jacketless, spineless co-conspirator Jim Jordan. Commence with the crickets now and spare us the nonsense!
Anyway, I thought I would share with you two of my favorite political cartoons from the midterms. They don’t need any setup at all, but perfectly define this exhausting election season. BTW, according to the 270 to Win website, it’s just 723 days until the presidential election of 2024.
You’re welcome!
