Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in Arizona protects several structures constructed by the ancient Hohokam people in the twelfth century and utilized well into the fifteenth century.  What was once a four-story adobe home has over time been reduced to one, and to keep it from further erosion, a large ramada was built in 1932 to better protect it.  Located between Phoenix and Tucson, it is easy to visit this site for half an hour before touring Saguaro National Park outside of Tucson.
