Pendulum Dowsing for Beginners

A while ago, I wrote about water dowsing.  But water isn’t the only thing that you and I have the capability of finding by dowsing.  If you are looking for answers to questions you have about life, you can use pendulum dowsing.

To do this, all you need is a cord or string of some type and a favorite trinket or stone (some prefer crystals). Take the cord (about six to twelve inches or so) and tie one end around the selected object. I myself prefer a small limestone rock.  Then, hold the top of the string out in front of you, between your thumb and forefinger, with your elbow away from your body.  Most importantly, be comfortable, and think good, positive thoughts.

Then, dangle the stone just above your own upraised palm (or a friend’s), and hold the string steady.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BELIEVE ANY OF THIS.  IT WILL WORK ANYWAY!

The stone will not hold still for long.  Pretty soon, it will begin to swing back and forth or from side to side, or it will begin to revolve in either a clockwise or counterclockwise motion.  You’ll likely think you are doing it subconsciously.

But you are not.

Now, by speaking directly, ask the pendulum to show you a “yes” response.  Be patient, because this might take some time.  Once you are shown the “yes” response, ask the pendulum to reveal a “no” response.  After this calibration, and if you are still skeptical, you might even ask the pendulum to confirm both responses.

It will.

Now try it.  Ask the stone verbal questions, ones you know the answers to, as way to practice and become familiar with how your pendulum responds to you.  Once you are comfortable, you can then ask all kinds of yes/no questions.  About your life.  About life in general.  About anything.

This isn’t mystical.  No magic is involved at all.  Your body, the string acting as the connection, and the stone are attuned to our natural world.

You are just connecting your intuition or sixth sense with energy that surrounds all of us.  If you have faith – and an open mind – answers will be revealed to you.

And really, this isn’t all that different from prayer, is it?
