Colorado NM is an absolute gem and one of my new favs in the park system. Located just south of I-70 in far western Colorado, the Monument (its nickname) is home to a variety of gorgeous sandstone and granite formations tucked into steep canyons and mesas. Many short hikes provide access into pinyon pine covered valleys and up and onto the sheer-walled landscape. Rimrock Drive itself winds along the plateau and reveals stunning scenery around every bend. The campground offers beautiful views as well (which you will see below). I must have driven past this park a half a dozen times over the years before finally checking it out back in 2017. That won’t be my last time!
