As we approach this significant planetary statistic (eight billion people), I think a visual representation of population and geography is important. Interesting — and perhaps surprising to some of you — that the fourth, fifth, and sixth most populated countries represented on this list (Indonesia, Pakistan, and Nigeria respectively, all fledgling democracies) are rarely visible on the world stage. Also noteworthy that almost 60% of all humans reside in Asia. Also noteworthy again, “In just 48 years, the world population has doubled in size, jumping from four to eight billion.” Check out the full story at Visual Capitalist.
