Hueston Woods is a very nice state park in southwestern Ohio. Anchored by “no wake” 625-acre Acton Lake, it sports trails of all types: twelve miles for hiking (easy to moderate); twenty miles for mountain biking; and eighteen miles for bridling (as in horses). There are even “trails” for traditional golfing (eighteen very nice — and challenging — holes) and disc (as in frisbee) golfing (thirty-six holes). Those who want to overnight here can stay at the lodge (modern rustic, and very nice), slightly rough-it in a cute and efficient cabin, or camp in one of the many campgrounds (full hookup to no hookup, family, equestrian, group, and yurt!). Bird watching, archery, fishing, fossiling, and swimming are other activities that can be enjoyed here.
