Mt. Rainier National Park in south-central Washington state preserves the glaciated (over twenty-five), active volcano Mt. Rainier. Hikers, climbers, bikers, campers, and photographers all flock to the park to enjoy all that it has to offer. Wildflowers reign supreme from late spring to late summer, and animal lovers might spy black bears, red fox, coyotes, American martens, bobcats, and fishers in the fields and along the treelines. My favorite trails here include Skyline, Silver Falls, and Mt. Fremont Lookout. My father-in-law Richard worked here as a seasonal ranger and campground host (after retirement), and his ashes are now scattered at a favorite location. Unfortunately, I have few pictures of the park because back in the day, I favored my camcorder. Crap!
