Well, I guess I have stopped by Mt. Rushmore close to ten times now, but anytime I’m in the vicinity, I can’t resist checking in again. This massive sculpture was created and completed in fourteen years (1927 to 1941) at the direction of immigrant Gutzon Borglum and his son Lincoln. Now maintained by the National Park Service, the monument also features a museum, gift store, and restaurant. A visit to the Black Hills of South Dakota should include a stop here — and Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind Cave NP, Custer State Park, and the town of Deadwood!
