I’m not sure what can be said about Yellowstone that hasn’t already been written or verbalized. This is the granddaddy of our park system — and for so many reasons: thermal features, big mountains, big waterfalls, big canyons, big lakes, big animals. Everything about this park screams big! I can’t begin to provide a list of hikes to do — you’ll have to consult the literature. Every campground is a keeper, though I tend to stay more centralized at either Canyon or Fishing Bridge — and you dandies have multiple lodges to choose from inside the park. The scenery is so diverse and spectacular, truly a photographers’ paradise! And, I have often called Yellowstone the Serengeti of America — where else can you see deer, elk, bears, coyotes, bison, badgers in such numbers and so available? And people who claim that the park is too busy with visitors obviously haven’t been here. Yes, there are lots of people, but the park is so vast that you can always find places of solitude. So if you haven’t already made a pilgrimage, put Yellowstone on your list. You will NOT be disappointed! To read about seeing wolves in the park (because I did!), please read “The Coolest Thing Ever Seen” under the Naturelated tab.
