If you are leaving the Grand Canyon heading toward Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, you will definitely want to drive U.S. 163 through Monument Valley (think Forrest Gump the runner). This is another gorgeous scenic drive that takes you past many impressive mesas that populate a variety of Western (and other) films. Just past the town of Mexican Hat (where you might find a nice lunch!) dwells the rock known as Mexican Hat. Enough said.
