Okay, many times when I am travelling, I am known for taking a flyer and exploring places well off the beaten path. Some years ago while driving in far western Kansas, I followed my instincts (and about twenty-five miles of gravel road) to Monument Rocks. Also known as Chalk Pyramids, these seventy plus feet tall sedimentary pillars rise strangely off of the Great Plains. Erosion of the shallow seabed that covered this area during the Cretaceous Period revealed the Rocks — now considered one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas!
